Hi All

Well im back after getting a positive answer from my 2nd rheumatoid consultant. Have now been diagonosed with Seronegative RA. At the moment i am not showing the rheumatoid factor when i have my bloods taken but have a very high anti ccp and crp. I am also still struggling with the joint pain and stiffness so my new consultant from Gloucester has decided to put me back on MXT starting at 10mgs for 4 weeks then to move up to 15mgs before going back to see him. Only problem is even though I have been on MXT before I now have to wait to see the rheumatoid nurse before i can start the medication again as i have been on no drugs to help with my pain for the last 6 months.

Feeling slightly more positive now that i finally have some answers despite my first consultant turning round and telling me that it was all in my head and that there was nothing he could do for me. In the process of finding out how i put in a complaint and possibly sue the consultant as my anti CCP and CRP were reading the same levels when i was seeing him so really not happy as been in so much pain for the last 6 months.

This is just not on. Have they given you a reason for not starting back on the mtx until you have seen the nurse?

My GP prescribes and monitors me - have you had a word with the GP to see if he/she can help with this?

well Zoe, i think that is not on at all, i think you would be right to give feedback and sounds as though you are investigating how to do this,
Glad you feel more positive now and hope pain levels are being managed much better,
I agree you have a right to feel aggrieved but remember take care of yourself tho', keep posting and stay positive

I have an appointment with my GP tomorrow so going to ask her then. The funniest thing is had my appointment through to see my new rheumatoid nurse and it is 2 days after i go back to see my consultant. This appointment is for him to monitor how im getting on with MXT but looks like im going to be making a few phone calls tomorrow to get an appointment sooner with my RA Nurse

Hi Pauline,
Welcome to the forum but sorry you have RA.
It takes time after diagnosis for it all to sink in, and to get started on effective treatment that works for you so it's no wonder you feel you are not coping well.
Have you started on any treatment yet? You also need to make sure you have adequate pain relief.
Keep posting and you'll get lots of support and information.
Looking forward to getting to know you.
